This Super 150’s suiting fabric features a Prince of Wales check pattern on a grey background. It is made mostly of merino wool, with a touch of silk added for extra smoothness. Marked by a subtle sheen, it is cool and comfortable to wear in summer.
Men’s suiting fabrics often have a woven ‘Super’ number at the selvedge. It stands for the fineness of wool yarn: the higher the Super number, the finer the fabric. Any cloth from Super 100’s to Super 250’s is considered to be of premium quality.
Does it mean that Super 250’s is better than Super 100’s? It may be half true, as such fabrics are much thinner and more fragile. A Super 250’s suit makes a splendid look, but it is more prone to damaging and scraping. Such delicate fabrics are best used for special occasion jackets and trousers.
