This Super 150’s wool fabric by Scabal features a lilac pinstripe pattern on a black background. It is infused with the essence of orchid, and its delicate aroma remains present even after dry cleaning. However, the aroma is not the only know-how – the essence makes worsted wool fibers much more durable and resilient, which means that any suit made of this fabric will serve you for a much longer time.

About Super Number

Men’s suiting fabrics often have a woven ‘Super’ number at the selvedge. It stands for the fineness of wool yarn: the higher the Super number, the finer the fabric. Any cloth from Super 100’s to Super 250’s is considered to be of premium quality.

Does it mean that Super 250’s is better than Super 100’s? It may be half true, as such fabrics are much thinner and more fragile. A Super 250’s suit makes a splendid look, but it is more prone to damaging and scraping. Such delicate fabrics are best used for special occasion jackets and trousers.

100% Worsted Wool

Wool is a natural fiber clipped from animals such as sheep, goat, camel, llama, alpaca, etc. 100% worsted wool is renowned for its warmth and crease resistance, as well as moisture absorbing properties. One of the softest kinds is the merino wool sheared off merino sheep. Available in a range of weaves, designs and colors, worsted wool fabrics are mostly used for overcoats, jackets, suits, and dresses and are also a popular choice for home textiles.

Men’s Suiting Fabrics

Suiting fabrics are always in high demand especially when it comes to business wear. Although there are several types of wool one can use for jackets and trousers, merino wool is by far one of the best. It comes from merino sheep that lives in Australia and New Zealand in extreme weather conditions.

Why is merino wool so special?

  • It is breathable. Merino wool fabrics release heat and keep one dry in any conditions.
  • It is both warm and cool. This type of wool provides ultimate warmth when needed, but it also cools one down when one starts warming up.
  • It is strong. Merino fibers can be easily stretched and flexed.
  • It is soft. Merino wool does not itch, all due to the fine diameter of fibers.

Wool suiting fabrics are popular both among men and women. They are easily crafted into trousers, jackets, vests, dresses, skirts and even shorts.
