This black floral silk georgette is the brand new creation by Liberty of London, a world-renowned manufacturer of printed cotton fabrics. This time it goes with silk, drawing inspiration from the Orient and its spices, flowers and dried fruit. Matt and durable, this sheer silk georgette has a delicate crepe type texture and a billowing drape.
Silk Georgette Fabric
Silk georgette is a woven fabric created from twisted silk yarns. It is lightweight and semi-sheer and has a characteristic pebbly texture. Georgette resembles chiffon in drape and feel, but is a touch heavier and more opaque. This fabric has a dull face and is surprisingly durable.
Silk georgettes are available both in solid colors and in prints. They are often used for pure silk dresses and blouses, as well as skirts and other spring/summer apparel. The fabric was named after Georgette de la Plante, a French dressmaker of the early 20th century.
