Men’s Suiting Fabrics
Men’s suiting fabrics are traditionally made of merino wool, which can be distinguished by its fineness. This metric is defined by a Super number, such as Super 100’s, Super 150’s, etc. The higher the number, the finer and smoother the fabric, which, on the other hand, affects wrinkle resistance and durability.
Fabrics for suits are often made with other fibres to achieve more softness and gloss, such as silk, linen or cashmere. The matter of special pride can be a suit made of precious noble wool fibres: alpaca, guanaco, cashmere or vicuña. Fine, airy and splendidly smooth, they add the true touch of luxury to any suit.
Formal men’s suits are required to be solid black, dark grey or navy. For casual suits, the colour palette is not that restricted: brown, blue, green, ivory or beige are welcomed as well. So are striped and check patterns, some of which are mostly appropriate for club jackets.
