This lightweight jacketing fabric is a combination of Super 150’s merino wool and smooth silk. Tiny particles of precious diamonds blended into the fabric lend a soft sheen to the surface. Constructed in a hopsack weave in a pale carmine color, it has an attractive tactile appeal. The fabric is designed specially for casual jackets to be worn in spring/summer.
Men’s suiting fabrics often have a woven ‘Super’ number at the selvedge. It stands for the fineness of wool yarn: the higher the Super number, the finer the fabric. Any cloth from Super 100’s to Super 250’s is considered to be of premium quality.
Does it mean that Super 250’s is better than Super 100’s? It may be half true, as such fabrics are much thinner and more fragile. A Super 250’s suit makes a splendid look, but it is more prone to damaging and scraping. Such delicate fabrics are best used for special occasion jackets and trousers.
Suiting fabrics are always in high demand especially when it comes to business wear. Although there are several types of wool one can use for jackets and trousers, merino wool is by far one of the best. It comes from merino sheep that lives in Australia and New Zealand in extreme weather conditions.
Why is merino wool so special?
Wool suiting fabrics are popular both among men and women. They are easily crafted into trousers, jackets, vests, dresses, skirts and even shorts.
