This silk georgette boasts a sheer still life set against a black striped background. Lush brown flowers sit amidst shells, fruits and vegetables. Matt and durable, it has a slightly grainy texture and a billowing drape. Our fine fabric is a lovely choice for warmer weather dresses, blouses and skirts.
Silk Georgette Fabric
Silk georgette is a woven fabric created from twisted silk yarns. It is lightweight and semi-sheer and has a characteristic pebbly texture. Georgette resembles chiffon in drape and feel, but is a touch heavier and more opaque. This fabric has a dull face and is surprisingly durable.
Silk georgettes are available both in solid colors and in prints. They are often used for pure silk dresses and blouses, as well as skirts and other spring/summer apparel. The fabric was named after Georgette de la Plante, a French dressmaker of the early 20th century.
