Chantilly trim is sheer, soft, smooth and airy sort of trim created in a Chantilly lace technique. Chantilly trims come in a range of patterns, colours and widths. There are narrow trims suitable for making a subtle accent on a garment, and wide ones that can decorate the entire bodice or replace fabric in a decollete area.
A typical Chantilly lace trim has one or two eyelash scallops. Traditionally, it features a floral or botanical pattern, often on a point d’esprit background. It is the most lightweight type of trim often chosen to decorate bridal wear, to make veils and gloves, lace boleros and capes.
